Taking a break and making a change
I am in Texas! For those of you who don’t know, I am in Texas and will be for one year on a furlough or home assignment. The idea is that a missionary works four years and then lives in their home country for one year to help with longevity, to raise support, and to connect with family, friends, and churches again. I have every intention of returning to Faith Academy for the 2019-2020 school year. Until then, what will I be doing?
My hope is to continue partnering with those who have been partnering all along. If that’s you, I don’t know that I can convey how important you are to me. I love that I have so many people deeply involved and caring so much about what the Lord is doing through me. I would love to have you continue on in this journey with me. If you are not on my support team, but would like to, the information attached will be helpful or you can email me at [email protected]. I have until October to switch everyone over from New Tribes over to Helps as far as finances go. If you have an EFT or a monthly transaction set up with New Tribes, you can email [email protected] and cancel that once you set up with the Helps team. In this envelope you’ll find information for setting up support with Helps, including an automatic draft (ACH Form). Please let me know if you have any questions or changes you’d like to make.
I am so grateful for those that have been supportive of my journey, whether through financial means, prayer, or encouragement. I am where I am because of those around me.

The idea is that a missionary works four years and then lives in their home country for one year to help with longevity, to raise support, and to connect with family, friends, and churches again. I have every intention of returning to Faith Academy for the 2019-2020 school year. Until then, what will I be doing?
- I’ll be doing the organizational aspect of my job as PE department head. I’ll organize the department, work on curriculum, and get some more certifications in my field.
- I’ll be working on my masters at a faster pace. Normally I take 3-4 hours at a time because my job at Faith keeps me very busy. My hope is to take 9-12 hours at a time this school year and get a bigger chunk of it out of the way. This is a masters in Christian Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.
- I’ll be reconnecting with my family and friends. This Christmas will be my first Christmas in 5 years to be home and enjoy the holiday season with my family. I also look forward to being at soccer games, being around for birthdays, and generally just reconnecting with people. Reconnecting with my church is also a big part of that. If are away long enough, you don’t know anyone when you return home. I’ve already found that to be true in four years time. The hope is to keep that connection strong.
I’ll be support raising. There is a certain level of support that normally has to be maintained, but I also have to raise it a little higher for various reasons, which I’m happy to explain if you are interested. I am hoping to raise about $700 a month more before returning to the Philippines.
